An Optimization Method For Slice Interpolation Of Medical Images
نویسندگان
چکیده
Slice interpolation is a fast growing field in medical image processing. Intensity-based interpolation and objectbased interpolation are two major groups of methods in the literature. In this paper, we describe an object-oriented, optimization method based on a modified version of curvature-based image registration, in which a displacement field is computed for the missing slice between two known slices and used to interpolate the intensities of the missing slice. The proposed approach is evaluated quantitatively by using the Mean Squared Difference (MSD) as a metric. The produced results also show visual improvement in preserving sharp edges in images.

Optimization of Parameters in 16-slice CT-scan Protocols for Reduction of the Absorbed Dose
Introduction In computed tomography (CT) technology, an optimal radiation dose can be achieved via changing radiation parameters such as mA, pitch factor, rotation time and tube voltage (kVp) for diagnostic images. Materials and Methods In this study, the brain, abdomen, and thorax scaning was performed using Toshiba 16-slice scannerand standard AAPM and CTDI phantoms. AAPM phantom was used for...
متن کاملMetal Artifact Reduction of Dental Fillings in Head and Neck CT Images
Introduction: The issue of metal artifact and its reduction is as old as the clinical use of computed tomography itself. When metal objects such as dental fillings, hip prostheses or surgical clips are present in the computed tomography (CT) field of view (FOV), make severe artifacts that reduce the image quality and accuracy of CT numbers. They can lead to unreliable ...

Due to non-linear nature of image registration the results of forward and backward regi...
متن کاملCross-scale self-similarity super-resolution of single MRI slice-stacks
Purpose: In MRI-sequences which require long repetition times, direct 3D acquisition often leads to infeasible acquisition times. In such cases, 2D multi-slice imaging is a common alternative. However, due to hardware limitations and other factors, the slices of such acquisitions are usually thick relative to the in-plane resolution. Such anisotropy hampers both visualization and analysis of th...
متن کاملInteractive 3D medical image segmentation with energy-minimizing implicit functions
We present an interactive segmentation method for three-dimensional medical images that reconstructs the surface of an object using energy-minimizing, smooth, implicit functions. This reconstruction problem is called variational interpolation. For an intuitive segmentation of medical images, variational interpolation can be based on a set of user-drawn, planar contours that can be arbitrarily o...
